Our Mission: We exist to accelerate research that gives children with Wilms tumors and their families better treatments, better outcomes, and a future without limits.
Our Purpose: We mobilize our community through fundraising events, donor engagement, and advocacy to advance Wilms tumor research – giving children better treatments, families more hope, and researchers the resources to find a cure.
Our Vision: A future where every child with a Wilms tumor is diagnosed early, treated completely, and thrives without lasting impact on their health or quality of life.
Under our mission, we support pediatric kidney cancer research, specifically Wilms tumors, with guidance from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (CCHMC) and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). Our corporation prioritizes minimizing our expenses to maximize the impact of our generous sponsors, donors and event participants.
We were fortunate that our son’s oncologist, Dr. James Geller, was the medical director of Liver and Renal Tumor Programs at CCHMC and one of the global experts in this area as a member of the Children’s Oncology Group Renal Tumor Committee. Although Dr. Geller has now moved on, the research he helped direct continues on at CCHMC and other institutions across the country. This research was instrumental in saving Silas’s life and we support the continued efforts of today’s researchers and clinicians to ensure many more children diagnosed with Wilms tumors can live a healthy, happy life after successful treatment.
For more information about Wilms tumors and other kidney cancers, there is a published research paper by the COG with lots of great information, highlighting that Wilms tumors are the most common form of kidney cancer in children and account for 7% of overall cancer cases in children with approximately 500 cases diagnosed annually.
If your family or someone you know is currently dealing with a Wilms tumor diagnosis, treatment or recovery, you are not alone! The COG website also has great support resources for families during this challenging time. If you would like to reach out to us personally, please email us using the link at the bottom of the page under “Contact Us!” We would love to help and support you in any way we can!

After the first golf outing in 2023 exceeded expectations, Eric and Lauren formed the nonprofit corporation, Wipe Out Wilms Inc, and hold positions on the Board of Directors. The corporation is motivated by their desire to give back after Silas’s successful treatment and the cornerstone event - the annual Wipe Out Wilms Golf Outing - is a combination of their love for planning and Eric’s love for golf. They are proud parents of Silas, Claire, and Brooks. Read more about the full story of Silas’s journey with cancer using the link below.
The third member of the Board of Directors and acting Secretary. She and the rest of the Louis family are long-time friends of the Imhoffs and Katie brings excellent perspective to the Board with a background in marketing and experience with other nonprofit organizations. She is a loving mother of three amazing girls, but some might argue she manages four children in her house. Her organizational skills, caring personality and enthusiasm for helping friends and a good cause make her an excellent fit within the organization.
